Announcing the 2012 Machinima Expo Prizes

It's my great pleasure to announce the prizes we will be handing out on Sunday, November 18th, to the films that have won awards at this year's Machinima Expo. Our sponsors, Muvizu, Unity3D, Reallusion, 3Dconnexion, Moviestorm and iPi Soft have generously donated a great selection of software and hardware for this year's winners. We are also grateful to Warlord for donating his iClone 3D eBook to all winners. Thanks, Mike! 

And a quick thanks to Brian Haberlin for donating his fabulous new graphic novel Anomaly as a prize. 

Jury Prize winners

There are three films chosen to receive the Jury prize, which is voted on by our outside jury. The prizes each winner will receive are:

The Peter Rasmussen Award for Service

This award is made in remembrance of Peter Rasmussen, who died tragically in 2006. He served and inspired our community for many years in the early 2000's with his unique sci-fi films and for starting the first machinima meet ups in Second Life. We give this award to the person in our community who shares that spirit of service.

The Open This End Award

This award is new this year. It was created by Cristina for the Open This End non-profit in Spain. Open This End shares the same dedication to promoting machinima as an art form that we have at the Expo. Our thanks to Cristina for helping us spread the word and for donating a cash prize.

Audience Choice Award

This award will be determined by vote in the chat window of the Machinima Expo Livestream on Sunday, November 18th. Those attending the awards ceremony will vote for their favorite film among the Jury films screened that day. We will tabulate the numbers and announce the winner at the end of the Sunday award ceremony.

Grand Jury Prize

This is the big Kahuna award for the Expo. Chosen by vote from our outside jury, this film is the best of the best at the 2012 Machinima Expo. Prizes are pretty sweet.
